When I was a child I lived on the island of Crete. And my parents bought HUGE Real Flokati rugs for our home. Now almost 40 years later I am giving them a new life in the studio. They are cut onto a throw rug size and mini for baskets and such. I choose Grey, Keeping one set natural, green and brown. I can't wait to try them out! Far superior to that fake one I bought at walmart. That after one washing was ruined.

Had to show off what my dd made...
She made them for a friend who has a big city theme. My little brother took the pictures. (so he's 37 he's still my little brother.) Then we converted them to iron on's and she designed the pillows.

Shirt Remake/Sunday Snapshot
I went Rummage Saling on Saturday and was able to get a bag of goodies for me for $2.00 total.
One Cato Peasant Blouse was just too large. (Let's sing yippee for me!) So this morning it was transformed into a spring dress for Prairie Princess. It's been to long since I have sewn. It felt good!!!
Total cost $.15. Time 30 minutes.
Come here for more Sunday Snapshots. I have wanted to join this for weeks and finally found something to do.

Had to Share my DD Creation... This is Kyo Sohma...

She made him for a Children's Shelter donation. I think some little boy or girl will love him.
And I think I should add, while the body was a pattern. Everything else from his hair, eyes and clothes she designed. I think she rocked it!

Silk Scarf

This scarf was a special gift for my mom. I bought a very special skein of yarn of 100% Silk Yarn. It is also hand painted. It was scrumptious to work with. But too expensive for a normal project.It is very light and soft. I hope she will get many years of wear from it.
The yarn is Claudia Hand Painted Yarns Silk Lace
The scarf pattern is called Alpine Frost Scarf in Silk it is in Interweave Crochet, Winter 2008.

Yarn Wax Sticks (Homemade Wikki Stix)
I got a sample of wikki stix with my renewal of The Old Schoolhouse Magazine. My children loved them but with 8 dc the price was a bit daunting. Then I remembered I had the instructions saved to make them. These aren't hard to make but very very messy and time consuming. But you get huge results for your effort. We got about 1,000 sticks out of it. We covered the table plus 3 craft tables. And mine were longer than real ones.
Homemade Yarn Wax Sticks
I got this recipe from Bethany at Happy to Be Called Mommy

Baby Wash Clothes
Soft and pretty! This was a extremely fast crochet...

This is a free pattern but you have to be a member of Ravelry. www.ravelry.com
http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/oh-so-soft-baby-washcloths
And I did the pattern slightly different. It said to skip a sc and I did not.

5th Attempt another failure...

1st I started this hat for my 15 yr ds and another son said it was too girly. ;( (It's now going to be for me)
Then I actually made this hat...
And the son I was making it for thought it was ugly...Then I started this hat...
And the band size fits my 2 yr old...Then I started this hat...

And it was horribly lumpy on top and a bad pattern...
Finally I Knitted this hat...

And as you can see it would fit a GIANT!
So now I am NOT MAKING A HAT!!!!

Thinking about a checkers game now...

New Hat and Sweater
Prairie Princess is growing fast and needed a new hat and sweater.

The sweater is a FREE pattern called Baby Kimono Wrap.
The hat is another version of Heidi's Perfect Newborn hat.
I made it the largest size and lose. I also wove a ribbon around the brim.

Poor Man's Macro
Couldn't decide if this should be under craft or Photography so put it in both.
My 12 yr old son was reading Boy's Quest April/May 2009 copy, which is the Photography issue.

In it they had an idea to use bolts, washers, wing nuts, nuts, magnifying glass and wood to make a camera able to take macro photos. He took it a step farther and made it so his can tilt and angle.
Here it is...

If you want to make one you will need.
1 board any size; he used 11 X 13;
solid maple scraps
1 carriage bolt 5/16 length 6 to 10";
1 5/16, 2 " long bolt;
1 5/16, 1 1/2" long bolt;
5 - 1" washers;
2- 3/4" washes;
4 wing nuts to fit your bolt;
1 locking washer;
1 5/16 nut
1 camera to try it out. A point and shoot is fine.
Here a are his results. First a normal photo

And then Macro.
If you need better information just holler.
